Congress Gets an Upgrade - WSJ.com
“WASHINGTON — Congress plans to spend $550 million to buy eight jets, a substantial upgrade to the fleet used by federal officials at a time when lawmakers have criticized the use of corporate jets by companies receiving taxpayer funds.”
Absurd. They balked at infusing an additional $2 billion into cash for clunkers, but have no problem dishing out a quarter of that for just 8 planes? Unnecessary. Why don’t you help out the airline industry while you’re at it? I’m sure United or US Airways would be happy to part with a few 737s for a fraction of the cost.
Ugh. I have no problem with corporate jets, I have a problem with grandstanding, posturing and hypocrisy.
