We continue to teach our kids French but we don’t teach them Ruby On Rails. Which do you think will help them more in the coming years?

Fred Wilson (via billda)

Absolutely true.  But there are barely enough qualified teachers for basic math and science.  Those who are attracted to these subjects tend to make their careers something other than teaching.  Generally speaking, computer programmers are, well, programming — not teaching.

Agreed, but as we talk about reforming education in general, we need to be sure computer science is not left behind. We need to find a way to incentivize those programmers to teach.
