The Yahoo hockey blog posted this top ten video from SportsCenter of ‘Famous Moments in Goalies Going Apeshit’. Hextall is on twice, once for skating over to maim Chris Chelios and once in goalie mortal kombat; Patrick Roy is on twice for starting shit with other goalies, one of which is challenging Chris Osgood to a fight during one of the Claude Lemieux revenge brawls; Ray Emery is on at least three or four times just going apeshit in general.
Of people who are not well-known hotheads, there’s a great CuJo clip of him attacking the referee for some reason, and a pretty amazing flying dogpile-tackle from some guy named Little toward the end.
Somehow, Hextall only made the list twice; also somehow they left out the one with the goalie fight between the Islanders and Rangers many years back where the Islanders goalie challenged the entire Rangers bench to a fight.
I stopped watching hockey when Hextall retired, no lie.
Hockey is extremely underappreciated.
